Echoing this exploration, MACAAL organised a special event featuring a conversation entitled ‘Rabi': Between the Sacred and the Secret’. This meeting explored the relationship between the visible and the invisible in creation, as well as the subtle dialogue between Islamic heritage and artistic modernity. It brought together Abdelkebir Rabi' himself, accompanied by Pascale Le Thorel, exhibition curator and art critic, and Brahim Alaoui, former director of the Arab World Institute museum in Paris. Together, they will journey through sixty years of creation, from Boulemane to international galleries, to decipher the central place of this ‘intimate trait’ in the artist's thinking.

The highlight of the evening was a unique performance, choreographed by Hiba Baddou herself and performed by a troupe of Gnawis, paying tribute to Morocco's rich intangible heritage. This singular creation, combining dance, rhythm and spirituality, magnified the themes of the exhibition by celebrating ancestral forms of oral and vibratory transmission. A striking opening, between contemporary resonance and traditional heritage.
